0:05 so let's take a look at gate three which
0:08 is all about belonging remember in this
0:10 gate we want to get all the lovers to
0:12 extremely likely and we want people to
0:13 feel like they can lean in and bring
0:15 their aame every
0:18 day and when we think about an image we
0:19 want to look into a place where it looks
0:21 like cool things are happening where we
0:23 want to be part of it and that we feel
0:24 like we would have a sense of belonging
0:26 with the group so those are kind of our
0:28 images we know what it's not people
0:31 don't feel excluded or left
0:34 out and remember belonging is the goal
0:35 it's the feeling of being part of
0:38 something and mattering to others and
0:40 how we get there is by inclusion which
0:41 are intentional acts designed to help
0:43 people feel part of something so there
0:45 are three strategies you can use as a
0:47 team member for gate
0:50 three first you want to recognize people
0:52 for their value and contributions
0:54 everybody is unique and brings something
0:56 to the team so getting to know what they
0:58 all contribute and and how you value
1:00 them is a really important part of this
1:02 process some people will bring their
1:04 strengths certain skill sets that they
1:06 have but others might just bring a
1:07 positive attitude or they're really
1:10 consistent and you can depend on them or
1:11 it's their ability to work through a
1:13 challenge it's different for each person
1:15 but you want to take a look at that
1:18 interestingly this is not about liking
1:21 each other it's about valuing each other
1:23 and in fact when people feel their
1:25 valued and needed by a group The Brain
1:27 produces serotonin and can shift from
1:29 that reptilian survival brain we talked
1:32 about about to the neocortex that higher
1:34 level brain that's where the seat of
1:36 innovation and creativity
1:39 is so find ways to regularly communicate
1:42 with others about what you value in them
1:44 and what they contribute to the group
1:46 you can do things like call out Kudos in
1:49 meetings or send emails there's even
1:50 apps or Services where you can give each
1:53 other compliments all of that works but
1:55 it's better if you're more specific so
1:57 saying hey you're awesome is good but
2:00 you're awesome because is even better
2:02 here's some examples I really
2:05 appreciated that you dot dot dot I'm so
2:08 grateful that we can count on you for
2:10 dot dot dot and thanks for going above
2:13 and beyond when you dot dot dot so when
2:15 you add that level of specificity it
2:18 really makes a difference now the second
2:20 strategy you have in gate three is to
2:23 have the courage to take some risks risk
2:25 taking is not always easy remember our
2:27 biology is skewed to self- protection
2:29 but it's important to push yourself to
2:32 take new risks think of it as
2:34 experimentation or ways to stretch
2:36 yourself both as an individual and as a
2:39 team you can think of the teamwork as
2:41 ways to try new things and give
2:44 yourselves permission to make mistakes
2:45 and give things a go because that's how
2:47 we learn that's how we get better that's
2:49 actually where real Innovation comes
2:52 from let yourself get a little messy
2:54 this is what I love about a color run I
2:55 think it just adds a lot of fun and
2:57 people give themselves permission to get
2:59 a little messy but that's how you get
3:00 better at
3:03 anything I also really like the pilot
3:05 project because it gives you safe ground
3:07 to run on and it'll allow you to learn
3:09 which Corners you can cut and which
3:10 processes you can tighten as you do your
3:13 work together and afterwards you want to
3:16 do a little reflection what worked what
3:17 didn't what should we change how can we
3:20 make that better and after you reflect a
3:21 little bit on your own you want to
3:24 reflect with your teammates and talk
3:25 about Lessons Learned and how you can
3:27 even improve a little bit more it's
3:29 another great way to connect with your team
